Jack O'Connell is my all time favorite actor. No doubt about it. (Jodie Comer being a close second however, but that's a story for another time.)
I first discovered Jack O'Connell when watching the E4 TV show; 'Skins'. Skins is the story of different groups of delinquent teenagers battling many things that life has to throw at them. Jack O'Connell plays the role of 'James Cook' nd in an instant I admired his acting and role. I will insert a few links so you can look into it!

Jack O'Connell is a 29 year-old actor (obviously) from Dreby. In his early life, O'Connell aspired to be a professional footballer and was even scouted by the team 'Derby County'. However, this career path shortly ended after he obtained a number of injuries and could no longer play professionally. You could say that O'Connell was a bit of a 'bad boy'. At a young age he received a juvenile criminal record. In order to tach him some discipline, his father (Johnny Patrick O'Connell) and his mother (Alison O'Connell) sent him to cadets at the age of 12. O'Connell then wanted to join the army as he felt it was his only realistic option for employment. This dream was also cut short because of his criminal record which meant he couldn't enlist. O'Connell left school with only2 GCSE's; a B in Drama and a C in English. He took interest in his compulsory drama classes at the age of 13 and trained in acting at the Central Junior as well as having a television workshop in Nottingham twice a week.

After deciding to pursue a career in acting, O'Connell began attending auditions in London where he sometimes slept outside because he couldn't afford a hotel. In order to try and save up and make a living, he got a job working as a farm hand in Surrey between acting jobs. Since beginning his career in acting, O'Connell mostly played delinquent teens as he related to them and portrayed them well. The New York Times writer John Freeman noted retrospectively, "If a British film called for a tough case, a grappler, someone with a bit of grit, chances were O'Connell got the part. O'Connell played his debut film role in the movie 'This is England' in 2006, a coming-of-age drama about the Skinhead subculture of the 1980's. From this point onwards, O'Connell's career soared upwards. Some of my favourite work of O'Connell (besides 'Skins') is 'Money Monster', 'Starred Up' and 'Unbroken'. I would say that my favourite film which O'Connell has starred in would be 'Unbroken'. This was his first major role in a Hollywood blockbuster directed by none other than Angelina Jolie herself. Unbroken tells the story of Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, an Italian-American Olympic distance runner who, as a bombardier in the Second World War, survived a plane crash over the Pacific and was held for two years in Japanese prisoner-of-war camps. To prepare for the role, he underwent a strict diet to lose almost 30 pounds and worked with a dialect coach to mask his thick Derbyshire accent. I will list the 'Unbroken' trailer below.
Overall for his work, O'Connell has been nominated for many awards and has in fact bagged a dozen in his career which I think is inspiring for a 29 year-old.
My admiration for O'Connell is out of this world and he is my favourite actor of all time due to the fact that he has come from a rougher background and still managed to break through the stereotypes that are associated with him. I look forward to watching his career blossom even more in the future and can't wait to see my career bloom like his, which I have no doubt it will.
