Ufilms Virtual Film Festival Entry - Monologue

Due to Coronavirus and being stuck in lockdown, unfortunately the Ufilms film festival cannot take place at the college, as well as filming for the Film and TV students' short films. This obviously means that there are no roles for us which meant that the Ufilms team decided to make a virtual film festival. The actors' task was to film a monologue related to life in lockdown. These monologue's will be judged by industry professionals and could be passed on to casting agents. Ufilms will then screen and show all of the monologues on all of their social media portals and showcase talent across our college and elsewhere.
When it came to writing my monologue, I completed lots of drafts. I love writing so was thrilled when we found out we had to write and film our own. The monologue could only be 3 minutes with a tad bit of lee way . I already knew this was a challenge before I started because there were so many different thoughts I had about lockdown. After watching a few videos about how others were feeling in lockdown I realised that lots of people felt quite alone which is why I wanted to portray this in my monologue, so that people know they aren't alone. I started quite brief and increasingly added more. On Thursday, my family and I found our old VHS camera with all of our childhood tapes on. this is when the idea to include some of this footage came to mind. That's when I thought about making the monologue a message to my future self to look back on, as well as making it entertaining. I asked Kelly for some help with my monologue and she gave me a few helpers when writing and re-drafting it. After about a week of writing and creating the monologue I performed and edited it ready to send off. Overall I am happy with the piece but if I had more time to act out the monologue I think it would be a lot better and more detailed. Anyway, enough of me waffling … enjoy the video!
