Voiceover/ Animation Task

After our introduction to voice over work from Kelly, we were set off with a homework task. This task was to bring in an object that we could make into an animation and make a script and backstory about. Instantly, I knew that my characters would be a pair of ear phones because if they were people they would be a bit like Siamese twins. They are connected to the same source but could have two completely different personalities. I knew that this idea was a good one and asked Sophie if she wanted to be a part of it and together we came up with the idea of 'Echo and Bass'. They are two characters which are twins but have completely different personalities. Kelly challenged us to make a script, so I made a start on this and came up with a few ideas. I brought in my earphones for the next lesson so we could discuss the thoughts that each of us had. We were given googly eyes to stick on each of our items and give them a personality. We discussed the different ideas and storylines that could be associated with the earphones and we came up with the idea of them being involved in a mockumentary animation about conjoined twins. 'Echo' and 'Bass' will originally be from China but moved to Essex to persue their career in music. They are at war with the new kids in town … airpods.
Soph and I wrote three short scenes to give Kelly and she was a big fan.

Scene 1 

Echo; Alright Babe, I’m Echo. I’m from 19 from Essex. My favourite thing to do is listen to pop music. I like all the old school divas like J-Lo, Shakira and my QUEEN … Beyoncé. My perfect night is being plugged into the right phone when the tunes are blasting. 

Bass; Sappenin’. I’m Bass, an aspiring grime artist. I’m obviously from Essex and I’m the twin (the better version) of Echo. I love Jay1, M Huncho and ESPECIALLY AJ Tracey. My ideal night is in the ears of a DJ at the club. 

Echo; We were born in China and moved to Essex when we were only children. The world was amazed at our birth because we brought joy to many people. 

Bass; However, recently we’ve been less popular because there’s a new kid on the block and that bitch took our limelight. 

Echo; Don’t even get me started on that wireless cow Bass, you know how I feel about that situation. 

Bass; Let me explain … 

Scene 2 

Bass; Since the day we were born we have been living it up traveling from ear to ear. We’ve been through a lot.  

Echo; We were top of the range, a twinkle in the eye of many and we brought the party to their life. 

Bass; This all changed when THEY came. 

Echo; Airpods.  

Bass; The new craze among the kids. WIRELESS earphones.  

Echo; I can’t tell you how much this angered me. Who on God’s earth do they think they are? I mean come on; they have no wires. 

Bass; Me and Echo are inseparable. We have a bond that they could only wish for, yet they strut into ears thinking they’re god himself. 

Echo; We need to do something about them. 

Scene 3 

Echo; It’s safe to say that we’re ashamed of ourselves. Yesterday, we got into a fight because bass needs to sort out her attitude. 

Bass; I can hear you; you know! We are connected remember. 

Echo; This is the problem. Bass has been eyeing up the airpods and I think she wants to be like them. 

Bass; I’m just sick of listening to your shit. We are not the same person and like different thinks. I was just saying that maybe it would be best for us to have some time apart. 

Echo; I think you’re forgetting something. THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE
