Unknown Theatre Company - Babes in the Wood

We have chosen that for our interactive panto project that we will take to Schools for Christmas the panto we will do will be 'Babes in the Wood'. Our task this week now that we have to isolate is to come up with a monologue we can use to audition for the characters we would like.

I had a read through the script and looked at all of the characters and the one I would like to audition for is the Fairy. The Fairy that is in the script we have chosen speaks in rhyme. I would usually find this boring and repetitive but I think there is a lot of creativity and fun to be had with this character. In the Character Notes the Fairy is described as a "very busy modern fairy with a mobile and email. Forever getting confused as to which show she is in and needs to be reminded". With this character description provided I imagine this Fairy to be quite busy and feisty. When she speaks to the audience she is your typical beautiful and graceful fairy, but when she is getting confused as to which shows she is in she's gets slightly irritated. In my mind she speaks with a New York accent and chews pink bubble-gum! I think her appearance would be quite 2000s with a lot of pink and a lot of lip-gloss. I also imagine her having a pink flip phone which she always pulls out for some reason! I will add a little mood board with my vision for the character below.

The Monologue I  would audition for this character with shows a lot about her; how she is confused easily and busy but can also dedicate herself to a task when she sets her mind set to it.
