It's Christmas time at SRC which means one thing for us actors... Christmas short films! This year, I was approached by 3 people from Film and TV who wanted me to be in their short films. Sam Liddell, Tom Swales and Harriet Parvin. Unfortunately, due to having to self isolate, I was unable to film Sam's. The Christmas film I will be talking about in this post however is Tom's. Tom approached me with a short film named 'Belief' which was a story about a mother who is away for work at Christmas time whilst her young daughter is at home. Alex (the woman in the story) pays a visit to a café where she meets a magical man. They engage in conversation and the jolly man named Nicholas gifts Alex a ticket home to spend Christmas with her daughter. I loved this idea and immediately said yes to Tom. There was quite a quick turn around with the film and the next thing you knew we were shooting!
The shooting schedule was as follows:
The first day of shooting was in the aviation room. We were filming the last scene where Alex looks out of her aeroplane window on the way home to her daughter I loved this day of filming as it was very stress free and Tom was on the ball. The set also looked great and was ideal for what tom was shooting. The second scene we shot was with Dylan who was the character playing Nicholas. This shoot was in the Oasis café and it too went really well. By this point I was just buzzing for Christmas!
It did take us quite a while to get mid shots and what not for this scene as Dylan was struggling with lines. It wasn't too much of a problem however and we did eventually get everything that Tom wanted. Our last day of filming was on December 8th and we ended up filming quite late in the day. This day of filming was once again very calm an we zipped through everything we needed to. Unfortunately, I do not have may photo's of the process as it slipped my mind in the moment! I will attach the finished film below. Enjoy!
