I would confidently say that I have put my absolute heart and soul into Unknown Theatre Company. From the initial discussion about what we wanted from the company I have been eager and excited. It was always in my plan for the theatre company to perform a pantomime. Last year we were extras and understudies in Tom Guest's pantomime with the degree students. When we went into lockdown Kelly gave us the idea to do a virtual pantomime which we took on whole heartedly. I think that this was a massive project for the first one we did as it was an hour long pantomime that needed to be filmed in three weeks but, we pulled it off! Throughout the whole process we all had different jobs. My role was manager of the company as I happened to be the most passionate. From the very start I was very clear with people what needed to happen in order for the company to be successful. I allocated jobs the first week in that played to everyone's strengths. Sadie, Chelsea and I are social media managers; Sophie A, Josh and Izzy find locations for shoots; Josh is on props and Chelsea is on costume. My favourite part of the business is getting the word out and advertising our service as well as emailing schools and sorting out the money side of things. I love that Kelly has given me this opportunity and put her faith and trust into me because I feel I have an advantage when moving on to higher education as I know how to run a small business. Through out the whole of the filming and rehearsal process, we have been keeping up to date with the social media side of things to keep peoples engagement. I feel that I put the most work into the social media pages than the other girls as I looked at the schedule every time we needed to post whilst also making the posts interesting and writing the captions to a high quality. During rehearsals I also directed scenes often because I think in a business there needs to be a clear 'boss' to keep things in check, otherwise everything would be chaos. In order to improve in the future I feel as though I could take the back seat a little bit as I can be quite head strong with a short patience. So far we have made £170 off 'Babes in the Wood' which makes me so unbelievably proud. I feel like I have put so much time and effort into it and its all paying off. The only thing what stresses me out and gets me flustered is, being the boss, I am absolutely bombarded with questions and would have 6 or 7 messages a night asking about the plan for the day afterwards or how to buy the panto or marketing the company etc. I do take this as a compliment though because it feels nice knowing that people feel they can open up to me and air concerns or ideas for the company. I feel like I have been successful in my role as manager and feel like I'm very fit for the job. I have always loved the business side of things. This mas sound odd, but my dad and I live our lives all through summer selling his antiques at car boot sales. This really gave me quite a bit of preparation for the company because I have been haggling and selling from the age of 6 (literally). I'm one tough cookie with a thick skin which I think is essential when running a business. I take a lot of inspiration from my dad when at college and channel his brutal attitude as I feel this is the best way to be in order to get things done. I have a lot of respect for my dad an his business and I feel this is mirrored in my work at College. Even though I annoy the life out of my fellow students, they respect me and understand its what's got to be done in order to progress at the pace we did. I think without this attitude, we would not have finished the pantomime in time for it to be sold to schools.
