Today (20th April) I had my Musicians audition for Alex! I cannot tell you how much I have looked forward to this audition. I am DESPERATE for the role of Alex.
Firstly, as soon as I found out we had the audition to prepare for I sent off for my headshots to be the standard headshot size of 8x10 to bring to the audition. I also updated my acting cv so that it reflected my work in the correct manner. Below is the audition paperwork we were sent for auditions.
I knew that this audition was going to be a challenge because it takes a lot of confidence to go into an audition and sing. The song we had to perform if we wanted to audition for Alex was The Who's 'Pinball Wizard' which I had never heard before doing this play. I listened to the song until it was engraved in my mind and I physically could not listen to it anymore! I then rehearsed my lines with my little sister (who is the best person to learn lines with by the way). By the time I'd prepped for this audition I felt really confident in myself as I was ready. I will add all of my headshots and my actor's cv at the bottom of this post.
On audition day I came in my 'Pinball Wizard' top which I had bought a week prior to the audition and zipped up my hoodie so I could do a big reveal on the day. I don't know why , but for some reason this comforted me knowing I had a big reveal of my T-Shirt. I rehearsed the lines once over with Sophie and in preparation for all of our auditions, the whole class blasted to Pinball Wizard a couple of times before the audition to let go of any embarrassment. There were four people auditioning for the role of Alex. I played my cards very close to my chest and sneakily planned to go last so I could build my confidence up. When I walked into the audition I handed my cv and headshots over to Kelly and Kane and took my place with my broom. I played Pinball Wizard through my earphones and just got on with the audition. By the end of the song I was absolutely paggered! I performed the scene we were given with Kane reading in and then was off on my way. I really used the broom to my advantage during this audition and danced like no one was watching. At the second strum of my electric guitar I had unzipped my hoodie and revealed my T-Shirt. I saw a smile on Kelly's face when I did this do I was pretty buzzing with myself. I came out of the audition proud of myself for even having the courage to do it.
Now it's just one big waiting game to see if I get Alex!
